| | How Satellite TV is Creating Nightmares for Every Cable Company | | Satellite TV is increasing in popularity today because it has so much to offer in the way of television entertainment. However, we should first decide if satellite TV is actually better than cable television. One key advantage with satellite TV is it has a wider range of channels; usually far more than cable providers offer today. Another key benefit is that satellite TV is an affordable and usually more reliable alternative to cable TV. Cable subscribers who are tired of the same old programming and unreliable reception are reporting every day they are happier when they make the switch to digital satellite TV.If you want to get more channels while saving money, yet you're just not sure if you should go with digital cable or satellite TV. Well, let me share that there's always something worth watching on the Dish Network or directTV satellite systems. Because of this, there's never been a better time to make the switch from cable TV to satellite TV.Satellite TV is also considered a bit of a bargain over cable these days, when you make a direct comparison. That's because satellite TV price rates don't vary as much as do cable... | |
| | Most amazing technological product | | What would you say is the technological product that amazes you the most? I would say it's the TV/satellite because it brings things that are far away closer to us. | |
| | Anyone else a BzzAgent? | | There is a cool website bzzagent.com where you try out websites and products and then tell people about it and report back. You get points and can redeem them for stuff. I signed up for a campaign for a new universal remote Logitech Harmony One and they sent me one to try out. It is the coolest thing. You connect the remote to your computer where you have installed the Logitech software and you can set it to control everything from your tv to your game system and stereo. The setup was pretty easy and didn't take too long. It takes a little getting used too but I am loving it! I have it controlling my TV, satellite and media center computer and it works great. It's nice to only have to look for one remote now. | |
| | Buh-bye Cable! (good riddance) | | There is a man on the roof of my house. He is installing Direct TV, satellite television, and I am so happy because I HATE CABLEVISION! The cable company has been over-charging and double billing me for years. I tried to get satellite years ago, but there was no "line of sight" being that I am surrounded by trees. But they have since added new satellites and now I can get it! Woo hoo!
I have been suffering with basic cable since the rates skyrocketed here, and now cable is raising the price on that AND removing the channels I most often watch!
For $10 a month more I will now hve over 200 channels, and movie channels and all kinds of other neat things and will finally be free from the big rotten cable company! WOO HOO!
I can hardly wait to call Cablevision and tell them to "shove it".
Is there anyone else here who hates cable? Do any of you have Direct TV? What can you tell me about it. I suspect I will have to learn where all the channels are on the new system. PS Please minus this discussion, all my comments and anyplace else you see a remark from me. I'm trying to get rid of the star. (yeah, I got the idea from Zukepr)

| | Satellite TV or Cable? | | I live in a metropolitan area where even the homeless have the choice of watching satellite TV or cable TV inside their refrigerator boxes. Hardly anyone uses air TV anymore. Perhaps in a house far up in the mountains, but for the most part, most of the population is plugged in to more than 50 channels. The problem with TV now is choosing to have those channels beamed into your house from space or strung to you house by a wire. I've had both off and on depending on who has the best deal at the time, but personally I like Cable TV better than Satellite TV.Why, You mumble to yourself while stuffing a handful of stale popcorn down your throat?Satellite TV and bad weather don't get along. If it rains, okay you get a mild disturbance but you still get to watch Simon break the heart of a singing, fat 16 year boy who was told by his church choir to go on "American Idol". When the real weather starts to kick in and you find your neighbors dog, kids and car flying by your window, you'd better be fond of your family members because you are going to be doing nothing else but wait out the bad weather talking to them. Now, I find with... | |
| | Do you have cable or satellite? | | Do you have cable tv, satellite tv, something else, or nothing at all?We have cable tv in our house. I have been thinking about switching to satellite, but I don't know much about it. Digital cable is pretty good, although we often have trouble receiving some of the on-demand channels. | |
| | Trailerpark Boys | | Last night, I finally caught Trailerpark Boys on channel 101. I have Direct TV satellite, and they show some programs from channels such as HBO or Showtime. I'd heard about Trailerpark Boys from some friends, and they liked it. I wish I could say the same. This show was a comedy, but I didn't laugh at any time during both half hour episodes. This show is set in a trailerpark in Canada and they used reality type filming; the characters, predictably, are coarse, stupid, and have no morals. It's a pity that people think that people who live in trailerparks are any of the above. I lived in a trailerpark for about ten years, and while there are those who don't care about others(Yelling, public drunkeness, etc.) you run into these people just about anywhere, not just in trailerparks. The show's premise is set around a bunch of characters who don't work, have just gotten out of jail, and play ground hockey, smashing their pucks into people's homes. The trailerpark manager is a drunk who used to be a cop, and lives with his gay lover, who calls him Mr. Lahey. The first episode I watched had to do with the losers stealing b-b-ques from the park, painting them, and selling them. It's... | |
