| | The Quickest Way to Get is to Give | | It’s true. You can’t really get what you want in life until you have given it to others. Doesn’t sound like it makes much sense, does it? How can you give what you don’t have? As you open your mind to the possibility and ask this question of yourself, you allow opportunity to come to you and knock at your door. Then you will find a way that it is possible to give to others what you want, before receiving it yourself. It almost sounds like a chain letter and in a way it is. The chain letter is a facetious reference as so many of us have been exposed to them by now and know they are illegitimate scams. Yet the basic principles are: you give before you receive, and you give with the faith and expectation of receiving. A similar modern example can be seen in the film ‘Pay It Forward’. By giving to others, you allow good things to happen to you. And this all boils down to the simple law of attraction. The law of attraction is like any other law of nature, like gravity. And like gravity, it is not one that has been generally ‘discovered’ yet. As a result, most of us are walking around thinking in a completely disordered paradigm.Disordered paradigms of thought are displayed... | |

| | Do people from India get upset when we call Native Americans, Indians? | | I always wondered if people from India got upset when we call Native Americans Indians - I think I would be upset if I were from India since they do not really represent the true Indian way of life.
I also always wondered how could Columbus have thought he was in India when everyone in that region of the world knew were India was. Columbus left from Spain - somthing like Palos Spain - then went to the cannary islands and then ended up in the Americas. I am sure he knew he was not going east - you would have to go east to get to India frpm spain - but they went west - how on earth would he have thought he was in India - And if he thought the world was flat how did he think he was in India if it was behind him - They had compuses and I am sure people with the knowledge of Columbus did not think the world was flat. What do you all think?
| | Flat? | | I recently completed The World is Flat by Tom Friedman for my class. What most interested me was the support given to outsourcing. Living in the U.S. myself, I tend to hear negative feelings toward outsourcing because we're losing jobs. But, if the world is flat(ter), why should we feel badly towards outsourcing? If I apply for a job and another, more qualified applicant was chosen, should I feel badly about that (after getting over the initial sting of rejection, of course)? But, if we do still oppose outsourcing, does that mean we're not comfortable with globalization? And, if individual people are not assimilated into a globalized world, who is? Just the businesses making money? So, I wonder if this "Flat World" Friedman talks about is really just a branching of the idea that all money is green regardless of where it comes from? | |
| | Secrets Revealed - Multiple Streams of Income | | It never cease to amaze me how people will take the easy way out and bury themselves or their morals.
Let me see, where do I start...
First and foremost, majority of the public got no financial education. I doubt they know much about inflation and other factors.
Then there is this concept of multiple streams of income, splitting your time, energy and focus over a few businesses at the sametime.
The arguement is diversification is to hedge against risk. But... diversification is really protection against ignorance, it makes no sense if you know what you are doing.
Besides, the world is flat, if you are not the best in your field, you will be easily replaced. Any business system that is good or excellent now, will be replaced in a whim. The speed of evolution has caused system lifespan to go shorter and shorter. If your business does not evolve it dies. Welcome to the Amazon Jungle.
If you study the successful stories of those listed in the Fortune 500, you will know. Multiple source of income strategy is used by almost all of them only AFTER they are successful with their core business.
Focus on one, keep your core in the top 10% range. What do you think, does it make...
| | Readable Reads... What's the last "good" book you've read? | | The last book I've read was "Gingerbread" by Rachel Cohn. I'm not really into "teen novels" but I bought it because of the cover... (okayy, I judged a book by its cover!) it seems interesting and I love rag dolls^_^As for the story, oh... it got me hooked! Rachel Cohn is now one of my favorite authors and I'm planning to buy the sequel of Gingerbread, SHRIMP.For more information about Rachel Cohn's books, try to visit this page http://www.rachelcohn.com/gingerbread.html | |
| | A thought experiment: the "flatearthers" | | There exists a group of people - let's call them the FlatEarthers. They are convinced that the world is flat, and that if a person travels to the edge, they fall off. Not only are they convinced that it is flat, but their entire way of life is based around the concept. Their social customs, rites of passage, and day to day traditions are all founded on this idea. You are an outside observer of the FlatEarthers. You are well aquainted with Colombus' voyage, modern science etc. and are fairly confident that the Earth is in fact spherical. However, you know (and for the sake of the example, this knowledge is certain) that if you showed this to the FlatEarthers, their way of life would fall apart and all of their social structures would be disbanded. You could even assume that drug abuse, crime and suicide would all come about in great waves as a result of this revelation. The main question is: Do you tell the FlatEarthers what you think? Is it moral to go so far as to prove to them that the Earth is round? Do you even have a duty to do so? The secondary question is: In what sense is what the FlatEarthers believe wrong or untrue?
