| Who loves SNOW?! | | I absolutely love when it snows it makes everything so white and pretty! Almost everyone hates it though is anyone else like me and like the white stuff?? | |
| | What does your avatar mean? | | Did you choose it for a special reason? What was it?
Mine is a pic that I took at the place I spend my weekends. It's a private lot in the middle of a huge forest that my boyfriend and I lease yearly. We go year round and are getting ready for atv and snowmobile season. It's my happy place!
| | | | My snowmobiling husband! | | We got our fist big snowfall of the winter season & my husband was up & out the door on his snowmobile. I am now a winter widow. I'm glad that he doesn't sit around all winter but I don't understand why he, like many other men, have to spend every waking moment out there in the cold on that machine! He will work all day, come home & get on that darn sled. I won't see him until well into the night! The weekends, he's gone for 2 days straight it seems like! Any other widow wives out there? The kids miss him too!!!! | |
| | My husband's mishap.... | | My husband left on his snowmobile last night to meet up with some of his buddies. He's been upset all winter because we haven't had any snow. We finally have enough snow and last night was his first chance to get on his sled. About an hour after he left, he called me at home and said that his sled caught fire and told me where he was. The kids and I jumped in the van and when we got there, there were fire trucks, cops, and firemen running around. His entire sled went up in flames and nothing was left but the metal frame. John was okay, that God. He was really mad over losing his sled and I had to jump his case and told him that I'm really glad that I didn't lose my husband and the kids didn't lose their father. I wonder why he didn't realize that at the time. Anyways, something caught fire under the motor while he was riding it and it just burst into flames. He was able to jump off of it. He burned his hands trying to get the fire out but he didn't even notice that his hands were burned until after we got home. I think he was in shock and had too much adrenaline going. The firemen and police were all very kind. (One fireman had a... | |
| | Firemen drinking on the job? | | As I posted earlier, my husband had a mishap where his snowmobile caught fire. The fire trucks came and as we were talking to one fireman in particular, we could smell a very strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He didn't appear to be drunk, he was laughing and joking around with us, but he didn't slur his words or stumble when he walked...he seemed okay. But that made me think, what if my house caught fire and my family were inside. Would I want this fireman to be the one to rescue them? I was really pissed off about this. He wasn't a volunteer fireman either, he was on the clock! What the hell? I don't think this is right. What if my husband would have been injured during this ordeal and this guy had to help him? The alcohol would have affected his judgement and response time wouldn't it? I think if this guy is going to drink on the job then he shouldn't be a fireman. He should get a job at a bar instead. | |
| | Royal Canadian Mounted Police To The Rescue!!!! | | RCMP to the rescueGuess this was just an opportunity to
show off the rescue equipment! An RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) officer
stopped to help a stranded rider standing
beside a stalled motorcycle in the mountains.
was extremely cold, and the rider was heavily dressed
in a helmet, balaclava and snowmobile suit.In a muffled voice, the rider told the Mountie
that the carburetor was frozen.
A motorcyclist himself, the Mountie remembered
an old trick for just such an occasion."Try peeing on it," the Mountie said,
"that should unfreeze it.""Can't," replied the rider. So the helpful Mountie took out his own equipment
and liberally hosed down the carburetor,
and the bike soon fired up.A few days later, the local detachment received a thank you
note from a father, grateful for the roadside assistance
his young daughter had received from the RCMP.

| | snow!!! | | Well I whined that we here in Minnesota haven't had snow this year. Well this past Saturday I got over a foot. Now there's a Winter Storm Warning out for tomorrow till Friday. 6 inches due tomorrow then another 12 inches on Thursday. Now I loved the last storm & am once again looking forward to this one approaching. I don't ski nor snowmobile. I just love snow is all. What do others do when theres a lot of snow arriving or already on the ground?
I love making snow angels. yes even at almost 53 I love that. A hot chocolate is always great to have also. I love to take pictures of different things in the snow. The snow adds so much to a photo in my eyes. I sit on my couch watching the snow fall from my picture window. Theres a couple photos on my page of a squirrel that sat there eating just as the snow had started to fall. Check them out. They're really cute photos. Okay so let's hear your activities before during and/or after a major amount of snow falls.
