Friends for Fitness - Achievements 11/09/06
When dieting, it is important to recognize your achievements and accomplishments, no matter HOW SMALL.My achievement for today is I went for a walk on my lunch break. It has been MONTHS since I've done this, maybe July, and I was going every day for awhile, then I got lazy and stopped (that and I was swamped with school).I have a pedometer my sister gave me for Christmas last year, and I walked 2412 aerobic steps, which was 20 minutes, I walked almost a mile (0.94), and burned 91 kcals.What have you accomplished today as far as your fitness goals go?
How many miles a day do you walk?
We walk all over if you come to think about it... so how many miles do you walk in a day?
iam looking for an MP3 player which can be used while iam excersing
iam looking for an MP3 player which can be used while iam excersing, it should have, heart beat monitor,pedometer,calories burnt indicator etc..
Do you own or use a pedometer?
I always like to take my pedometer when I go walking, it tells me how many steps I take, how many steps contributed to aerobic exercise (it usu. takes about 10 minutes to get going), how far I've walked (distance & time), and how many calories I've burned. I think it's very helpful b/c if I have 900 steps for instance, I'll walk another 100 to get that perfect 1000 steps (or if I've walked 23 minutes, I'll usually walk another 7 so I have 30 minutes).
My discussions so far (page 1) -
I am trying to go through all the discussions I've started (this is to page 29!!!) and make sure I don't have any repeats, and try to avoid repeats in the future. I've noticed a couple (like Ren and Stimpy). I'm trying to organize all my stuff on MyLot.If there's any topic here you think you'd be interested in responding to, feel free! In addition to starting to set a daily "I'm going to try" thing for my health (today's was "I'm going to try to start not drinking soda at work"), I'm going to set myself a rule a day to improve my health.Today's rule is:My pedometer does not belong in my desk drawer, it belongs on my hip.If I hide my pedometer and it's not in plain sight, I will not use it, and I need to walk every day so I can get in shape and lose weight, and record my mileage so I know if I'm improving, so I need my pedometer!
what finally convinced you to lose weight?
Hello - I am Jacki and I am an over eater..............LOL (OK all together now.. "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Jacki". LOL....I have fought my weight all of my adult life. I have lost 100's of pounds in my lifetime only to gain them back plus some. So what is the magic behavior button? What makes you finally say "This is it I am done with this nonesense" I am going to get healthy?What worked for you? Please share your stories maybe something will inspire me! I sure hope so. Did you used to hate exercise and now you can't live without it? I could only pray! LOL

I was going to get a pedometer but my friend got one and said it didn't work. She said she was standing still and it suddenly counted 5 steps. Is hers broke or are they all like this?

Dr. Oz says to walk 10,000 steps a day. How many of you are doing that. I just started about 3 weeks ago after I quit smoking!!
Easiest Weightloss in the World....
I am fed up with all the advertisements about the newest diet fads or ther really worn out Weight Watchers and Nutrisystems lines. I think its time for a little common sense whith our weight.The best way to lose weight is simply walking. It doesn't have to be Olympic Speed Walking and it doesn't have to be a 10 mile jog every other day. In fact, I am not so sure that jogging and running would be all that good for most women.Just walk about 3,000 steps a day. Keep track by getting a cheap pedometer and just wear it allday. Check your steps at noon, or halfway through your day, and then at the end of your day. When you figure out what your normal average is, add in enough steps to bring the total up to 3,000. If you want it to be challenging and you have stairs in your home, even if they are just the stairs to your basement, do a setp up and step down over and over again while listining to some of your favorite but peppy music. Within 6 weeks you should see a difference.If you pay atttention to your meal portions at the same time, you should see your weight drop without even breaking much of a sweat!

I am fed up with all the advertisements about the newest diet fads or ther really worn out Weight Watchers and Nutrisystems lines. I think its time for a little common sense whith our weight.The best way to lose weight is simply walking. It doesn't have to be Olympic Speed Walking and it doesn't have to be a 10 mile jog every other day. In fact, I am not so sure that jogging and running would be all that good for most women.Just walk about 3,000 steps a day. Keep track by getting a cheap pedometer and just wear it allday. Check your steps at noon, or halfway through your day, and then at the end of your day. When you figure out what your normal average is, add in enough steps to bring the total up to 3,000. If you want it to be challenging and you have stairs in your home, even if they are just the stairs to your basement, do a setp up and step down over and over again while listining to some of your favorite but peppy music. Within 6 weeks you should see a difference.If you pay atttention to your meal portions at the same time, you should see your weight drop without even breaking much of a sweat!
