| Harmonica Collectors! What's the Coolest Harmonica You Own? | | I think my coolest one would be the hohner's 1920 Trumpet Call Re-Issue. It has these brass bells coming out the back and has an amazing sound. I rarely play it, it's more of a collector's item, but it is really neat.I probably don't have enough money to buy more harmonicas that are basically just collectors items. But I am awaiting a Suzuki pipe humming harmonica! I expect that one to be pretty cool!So what's your favorite harmonica? | |
| | Do You Share Your Instrument? | | I don't know why it is, but I like watching other people playing my guitars. I like seeing and hearing what they do with them that is different than how I play.I've noticed I'm a rarity that way. Most people seem to be very possessive about their guitars. Players of other instruments often are too, but it seems to me that guitarists are the most possessive.Of course, I don't let too many people play my harmonicas... but let's face it, there are only so many people you care to share spit with.;~D | |
| | rock-and-roll music | | Easier - "Rock 'N Roll" is a type of music. It "shook things up" in the 1950s and 1960s. Many musical styles from around the world contributed to this new sound. Along with the African American influence, rock 'n roll also drew on the lyrical melodies of recent European immigrants and the country and western music of Texans. First, the music became popular in small clubs and on the radio. Later, with the introduction of programs such as American Bandstand, teenagers could watch their favorite bands on television. Not everyone was excited about this music. Many parents didn't like the suggestive dancing, naughty lyrics, and loud, fast beat. Harder - "Rock 'N Roll" is a musical genre whose 'golden age' is usually recognized as the decades of the 1950's and 1960's. This musical form had its beginnings in the blues tunes, gospel music, and jazz-influenced vocal music that became popular among African-American audiences after World War II. A new kind of blues, it featured electrically amplified guitars, harmonicas, and drummers that emphasized afterbeats. At the same time, black gospel music grew in popularity. These forms of black popular music were given the label rhythm... | |
| | In Our World of International Trade... | | Why are some products still not available to all countries?I was looking at the Hohner harmonica section of their website today to see what collector's harmonicas I don't have yet and what I could obtain for not too much money. I decided to take a look at the children's harmonicas since I don't have any of those. It's kind of interesting because they tend to have less holes and interesting things about them that make them different. So I just thought I'd check them out and then find one.Of course, my desires drift towards what I cannot have... so I look and instantly see the "Melody Star" harmonica and I want it bad! It actually doesn't even have a description or really show it on the United States site. It's just that it is in the photo for the children's harmonicas section. So I go onto the German site, and see that it is offered there. The description is in German. Then I go online to look for it on Ebay, in stores etc. It seems to be as easily to obtain in Germany as a children's song flute is in the United States. Yet I cannot get one! This is going to drive me crazy. I didn't want the thing before because I never even knew about it. But now that I can't have it, I... | |
| | Cleaning and Reassembling Harmonicas | | So how often do you clean your harmonicas? Do you clean all of them or just the ones you play frequently?I only clean the harmonicas that I play frequently. Previously, I had only had to clean diatonic harmonicas. But recently, I had pneumonia and decided it was the perfect time to clean my Chrometta 8 that I play all the time.So I disassembled it and cleaned it thoroughly. Now that it's all clean, I realized that I never looked closely at how the spring for the slide was held in before. So since I can't seem to figure that out, I bought another Chrometta 8 so that I can take the cover plates off and view the spring. Besides, I figured I should have a spare anyway since the Chrometta 8 is the only chromatic harmonica I have that fits in my purse and therefore I can play it whenever and generally always have it with me.Admit it... who else has taken apart their harmonica only to find out that you didn't pay enough attention and it's hard to put it back together?Thankfully, I think aside from the spring I took good notes and will know where everything goes once I see where the spring should be. | |
| | What Do You Make With Polymer Clay? | | I like making scenes but also individual pieces. I've made teddy bears, rabbits, other animals. I've also made scenes of my friends for their birthdays and Christmas presents. And I've made some cute people playing harmonicas. I find it really fun to work with polymer clay. Even though I'm probably not one of the most artistic people ever, I find it relaxing sometimes.I need to clean out my clay this summer and make some more stuff before it all goes bad. I haven't had a chance to work with polymer clay for at least a year now I think. | |
