easter merchandise available before valentines day
Stores are constantly getting wayyyy ahead of themselves. I wrote a thread before about how they bring out summer clothing in winter. Well now here's a new example. I went to do some last minute valentines day shopping a few days ago only to find in most stores that most of the valentine gifts were gone or shoved into one aisle while there were two or three aisles bursting with easter gifts!!!!! Its not even valentines day yet and already they are ready for the next holiday. I looked up when easter was because I figured it made sense if it was in march at least. But its not until April 8th this year. Does this annoy anyone else??
Do you give your kids Easter gifts?
I made the mistake last year of buying my daughter a Littlest Petshop set and some Disney princess dress up clothes for Easter. I had gotten them on sale and I thought it would be cute. She got the regular Easter basket full of candy too. Now this year she says "I wonder what the Easter Bunny will bring me for Easter". Egads! Now I thinks he expects presents! I'll probably tell her that the Easter bunny usually just brings candy, but it got me to thinking...do you give your kids Easter presents or just candy?
alternative to buying chocolate for easter
my daughter gets chocolate from my parents for easter and i don't want her to get too much. does anyone have some idea's for a different little gift.
HELP!!!! what do you give a children for easter if you dont want to give candy??
Please let me know, I have highly hypers boys that are 4 and 7. I am torn about what to get them?? They dont need but little sugar, lol, and they destroy everything, and yes I mean everything, lol!!!! Their nicknames are "Mr. Destruction" and "The Destroyer" ANY IDEAS
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly....
... that pretty much covers my day.The good: *I got a little bit more money today than I was expecting to get so I was able to play a bit. Got the kids each a couple things to add to their easter baskets and was able to pay a bit on some outstanding debts. *I found a couple of books that I've been just dying to get my hands on for awhile now. (http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/933645.aspx) *Managed to squeeze in a quick visit with my bestest friend this evening.. although we spend tons of time on the phone each and every day we don't actually get a chance to get together much. *Finally heard from a friend who moved out of town last week and was supposed to check in last Sunday but hadn't.The bad: *The bus system got messed up this morning and the regular 10 am bus that I was supposed to be taking didn't even show up so that put me 1/2 behind schedule right from the start. *I had issues getting some bills paid because the bank account that had the money in it is actually in the next town over and we don't have a branch here. Not much of a problem, I just normally use my card. Needed a teller though and that meant going to a bank machine.. taking the money out of one...
What do you give your kids or grandkids for Easter? Anything?
Today I picked up my Easter things for my kids and grandkids since their all going to be here for Easter dinner. Even though my kids are grown up I still get them some Cadbury eggs which they love. I got them each four of them. My granddaughter is 14 but has Downes Syndrome and is a lot younger than that so I got her the cutest basket with a stuffed bunny in it. Her favorite color is purple and the basket and bunny are purple with purple cellophane paper on it, it's adorable. Since my grandson is 13 I bought him 2 big plastic eggs that are full of miniature hershey candy bars which he will love. I stopped buying them easter baskets a long time ago because their overpriced and usually are full of junk candy. Years ago I used to put together baskets myself for them but once they got older I stopped. Do you do something for your family? Tell us about it?
Different Easter morning traditions
When I was a little kid, on Easter morning my brother and I would wake up to find our Easter baskets (the same ones every year) in the hallway, and a trail of jellybeans leading to the living room. We would hunt for jelly beans and maltball eggs. All of our Easter "gifts" were out in the open, unwrapped, on the coffee table. We dyed Easter eggs the week before Easter also, just for fun. We would end upe ating them all. In my best friend's house (and now with her own kids) the family dyes Easter eggs and leaves them out on the table the night before Easter. Then the Easter Bunny comes and takes the dyed eggs and hides them out in the yard. On the inside of the house he hides plastic eggs stuffed with candy, coins, and small surprises. And also hidden somewhere in the house is their brand new Easter Basket, all wrapped up in cellophane and ribbons, and filled with presents. Isn't it strange how different families do things differently? What does/did your family do on Easter morning?
Are you buying a live animal as an Easter gift?
PLEASE! DO NOT buy a live bunny, chick or duckling for Easter unless you live on a farm and know how to raise them! Our local shelter spent last week condtructing a temporary large pen behind their adoption building to ready for the annual "fallout" of dozens of such livestock 6 months after the holiday. One shelter worker told me that once they lose their baby appeal, all of a sudden it is too much to be cared for by the owners or the animals werent allowed to live in their human dwellings at all! She went on to tell me how some come in sick, malnutritious and practically starved to death because no one knew how to take care of them properly!Chocolate bunnies and marshmellow peeps are the best gifts - even as toys. Dont allow the live babies become another "pet mistake" statistic.
Easter Gifts $299.00 shipping!!!
I love www.hearthsong.com 's products... they are wholesome and interesting. I was going to purchase a few things as gifts for my daughters but found the shipping was not to my liking. So, a few more days pass and I get an email advertising $2.99 shipping in honor of leap day (Feb 29) so I quickly got my order in to take advantage of such a savings.I got my order 2 days ago - looked through the box... everything was there... nice!I do not usually spend so much on Easter presents but I got the pysanka set for my eldest daughter - she is so creative and I thought I would like to try it myself...anyhow the order came close to $50 in products... imagine my surprise when I look at the invoice and the total cost said $349!!!WHAT?they charged me $299.00 in shipping instead of $2.99what about those poor folks who do not scrutinize their invoices.... sheesh .... did I pay for an armored truck delivery? Has anything like this happened to you before, do share!
When was the last time you thanked the man or woman in your life?
I have a wonderful boyfriend that has to be the most patient understanding man in the world. He has been by my side through several surgeries, which were performed at the hospital where his wife died 17 years ago. He has had to overcome deep emotions about going back into that hospital to be with me, but he has done wonderfully. Each time I came out of anesthesia, he has been in my room and has always had a wonderful gift to make me feel better.Today, he made a special trip to town (which is an 80 mile round trip) to pick up my prescription. He is always there for me no matter what. Sunday, in my Easter gifts from him, which were chocolates that I absolutely adore, was an Easter card proclaiming how much he loved me and inside was a fifty dollar bill with a note attached for me to buy myself an Easter hat. He knew how absolutely broke I was, I didn't even have enough money to buy a gallon of gas.Whatever I want to do he is there beside me helping me do it. He is attentive and so sweet, when we go places together he always holds my hand. He put up with the major problems that I had when my daughter and family were staying here for the past nine months. He would come and...
