We Were Soldiersbut october sky is my favourate one.It is Based on the memoir Rocket Boy by Homer H. Hickam Jr.,October Sky emerged as one of the most delightful sleepers of 1999--a small miracle of good ol' fashioned movie-making in the cynical, often numbingly trendy Hollywood of the late 20th century. Hickam's true story begins in 1957 with Russia's historic launch of the Sputnik satellite, and while Homer (played with smart idealism by Jake Gyllenhaal) sees Sputnik as his cue to pursue a fascination with rocketry, his father (Chris Cooper) epitomizes the admirable yet sternly stubborn working-man's ethic of the West Virginia coal miner, casting fear and disdain on Homer's pursuit of science while urging his "errant" son to carry on the family business--a spirit-killing profession that Homer has no intention of joining. As directed by Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer),this wonderful movie is occasionally guilty of overstating its case and... | |
| | Movies about Sports, Which One You Like Most | | Which movie about sports do you like most? Which one first comes to mind when asked about a movie about sports? There are movies about martial arts, right? Like Ong Bak which is about muay thai, and of course, Karate Kid. The Color of Money is about billiards, starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise. There are boxing movies, as Rocky, Cinderella Man and the one directed by Clint Eastwood, i forget the title. There's Over the Top, which is about arm wrestling, Happy Gilmore about golf, Wimbledon about tennis. And a lot others. Which one have you seen and like most? | |
| | Have you seen??? | | I've been doing my normal Saturday morning watching movies off Video On Demand. Today it was my pleasure to watchResurrecting the Champ with Samuel L Jackson, Teri Hatcher, & Josh Hartnett. I don't usually enjoy boxing movies, but found this one to tug at the heart strings!!! It was one of those movies I meant to use for background noise while I worked in myLot. It didn't quite work out that way as I found I watched the whole movie. If I'm still watching it after the first 3 minutes, I know that more than likely it's going to be a good movie. Well....I watched the whole 111 minutes & even cried at the end.NOT because I was sad, but because it spoke to me!!! It's one of those that I would have still enjoyed even if I had to pay for it!!! If you get the opportunity to watchResurrecting the Champ. I strongly suggest you take the opportunity. What movie have you watched thinking that you're not going to like only to find yourself glued to the TV??? | |
